Queen Rearing

In the spring of each year the MUBK Queen Rearing (QR) apiary will normally have the first batch of locally raised queens available for sale. The queens are selectively bred from productive and calm local colonies that are disease resistant and do not have a propensity to swarm annually. They are open mated with local drones and are all laying. Price is £20 each limited to 1 queen per MUBK member applying. The queens will be marked and are caged with a few attendant workers. Collection will be from the QR Apiary at Stanbrook Abbey at a time and date by arrangement. Further batches of queens should become available every few weeks but this depends on the weather and other factors, and is not guaranteed.
Applicants will be placed on a list and informed of their position (see the MUBK website). A week or so before queens become available applicants will be informed at which point payment is required by BACS transfer to MUBK using reference Queen & Surname. MUBK account details are on the website
