Queen Rearing

In the spring of each year the MUBK Queen Rearing (QR) apiary will start producing locally raised queens. The queens are selectively bred from productive and calm local colonies that are disease resistant and do not have a propensity to swarm annually. They are open mated with local drones and are all are marked and laying. They are normally sold in 2 frame National nucs. Price is £60 each, limited to one nuc per MUBK member applying. When nucs become available a message will be posted on the main MUBK WhatsApp group. Further batches of queens should become available every few weeks but this depends on the weather and other factors, and is not guaranteed.

Payment in advance is required by BACS transfer to MUBK using reference Queen & Surname. MUBK account details are on the website. Note that nuc boxes need to be returned to MUBK after the frames have been transferred to the recipient’s hive.
